Congratulations! You’ve gotten your braces off
and your smile looks amazing!
If you don't want to lose your nice,
straight smile (that you spent months achieving) make sure you wear your
retainer.

We know we have already told you
that you'll be needing a retainer to keep your teeth straight and in-line. But
we really can’t stress how important wearing your retainer truly is. Because guess
what? If you don’t wear your retainer as it was prescribed, your teeth WILL
move out of alignment and back into their original, crooked places…just as if
you never even had braces at all.

You may not realize this, but your teeth
aren't set rigidly into your jawbone. They are held in place by a network of
fibers called the periodontal ligaments. After your teeth have been moved into
their ideal position, it takes several months for the periodontal ligament to
adjust. The slightest pressure from your lips and tongue can cause your teeth
to shift out of alignment. Even if your teeth and smile don’t look any
different right away, that doesn’t mean they haven’t moved. If you decide to
ignore your prescribed retainer treatment, your teeth will continue to move
until misalignment is noticeable again.
We know you didn't go through
orthodontic treatment just to have your teeth go crooked again. So if you want
to keep that amazing smile, it's essential to wear your retainer as directed.
